BCCI talent hunt shortlists 30 Bowlers from HP
The Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI)’s first-ever initiative to select raw bowlers through open trials has paid off, as the team of selectors led by former Indian coach and Director of National Cricket Academy Sandip Patil has shortlisted 30 names from among the 646 youth who reached Dharamshala on February 18 and 19.
The team is scheduled to conduct similar trials in Jammu, Raipur and Ranchi in the next 10 days. Besides Himachali boys, budding bowlers and spinners from states like Punjab, Haryana and Delhi were also allowed to participate in the trials.
“Initially, it was only for Himachal Pradesh, but when so many youth reached Dharamshala, we sought a clarification from the Board of Cricket Control of India on whether to allow the outsiders. Thus, all were allowed,” said Col (Retd) H S Manhas, General Manager (Adm) of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.
